Q Is For Quiet Forest

Of course there are sounds in the forest, but it is much quieter than a busy city street. Today I am sharing some photos and videos I have captured of the forest up in the San Bernardino Mountains.

The San Bernardino Mountains

Above is a photo gallery of the beautiful trees and plant life I spotted on my walk around the San Bernardino Mountains.

I also created this short video, which shows the leaves on the oak trees turning yellow in late November up here in the San Bernardino Mountains. Come back in the next few days to see more photographs I post of my trip to the San Bernardino Mountains.

Annie Cat And The Mountain Backdrop

I grew up with this beautiful vista, although there were a few more trees obscuring it back then before the bark beetles hit. However, it is still beautiful here, and Annie cat is lucky to be photographed in such a picturesque setting.

Gray Clouds Gathering In The Distance

This picture was taken near sunset, and I just like the slightly ominous look of the gray clouds gathering in the distance.  This was quite a blustery sunset, and not as vibrant and cheery as some.  Of course, this sunset was in late December up in the San Bernardino Mountainns on a chilly evening, so what else could you expect?

Photography of the San Bernardino Mountains: The Winter and Spring of 2011

Here is a series of photographs I took up in the San Bernardino Mountains in the winter and spring of 2011.

Daffodils In The Spring

This week I took a picture of some daffodils and grape hyacinths.

The Fallen Tree

This tree fell after a recent snow storm in the San Bernardino Mountains.  It is still a beautiful oak tree, even if it is no longer erect.  I love the large coulter pine cones directly in front of the fallen tree.

Imagery of Mount Baldy

I have created this amazing imagery of Mount Baldy by taking a picture up in the San Bernardino Mountains.  This view of Mount Baldy was captured in December
of 2010.

The Pinnacles

I always enjoyed looking out at the Pinnacles whenever I am up in the San Bernardino Mountains.

Sun Streaked Sunset

Here is a picture I took of a tangerine sunset here in the Loma Linda area.  You can
see part of Mount Baldy in the distance.  I like how the pine trees are framing this image.

Sketching The Pinnacles Part 5

In this segment I finish sketching the Pinnacles, which are a group of boulder laden hills up in the San Bernardino Mountains.

Drawing The Pinnacles
Here I shaded in the trees with a brown colored pencil.

Here I colored in the barn and the ground surrounding the trees.

Drawing The Pinnacles
The only thing left to do is to color in the sky.

The Pinnacles Sketch
The drawing of the Pinnacles is completed. I love how it is slightly more green looking than the actual Pinnacles, but I used artistic license to change the details a bit.

The View From The Mountain

Here is a picture I took of the view from up in the San Bernardino Mountains. I simply love looking down on Hesperia from this vantage point, and as a child the city lights used to mesmerize me as these glistened at night. In those days the tree cover was much thicker, and the twinkling lights created a hallow between the trees.
