A quick warm-up sketch can be silly and fun, and is just a way to practice the type of lines and shading your might like to achieve in an actual sketch.

Colored Pencil Self-Portrait by ~Bearie23 on deviantART
Here is my completed colored pencil self-portrait drawing, which I sketch on 4 by 6 inch paper. Now I am ready to frame my illustration to hang on the wall.
Here is the second video detailing the progress thus far on the sketch of Buster the dog.
Today I am beginning to shade in the mask above Buster’s eyes. Buster had a mask above his eyes similar to his mom Lady, who was a Siberian husky.
I sketch the mask to extend above both of Buster’s eyes. In real life Buster had a banana nut bread colored coat, with a mask that consisted of dark brown to black patches. He was quite an adorable little dog.
Here is where I have left off with my Buster sketch. I shall be adding more details this afternoon, but I like how I am now beginning to add more definition to his nose.
Drawing the outline of Buster’s head.
Next, I begin to add Buster’s nose and more detail to his face.
Now I am added more of the grin to Buster’s mouth.
I begin sketching in the collar that will go around Buster’s neck.
I am adding more details to Buster’s face. Now I just need to continue working on my sketch.
How many people actually still sketch things out? I am sketching an image for a birthday card at the moment, and it feels rewarding to know I take the time to do that. Sketching on a handmade card is just more satisfying that using a computer program to print something out. By the way, I truly believe in card making, and your friends and family often enjoy receiving mail rather than email.
My giraffe sketch turned out quite vibrant, I like it! |
I am quite estactic that I have completed my giraffe sketch this evening, which I will be using to design cute t-shirt and other items over on Zazzle. I will also be using my giraffe sketch to write new articles about arts and craft ideas. Stay tuned to my blogs to see what I am up to with my vibrant little giraffe. Today is the first time I have included my signature on a drawing or painting in years, but I have decided I want to start doing that again.
I do enjoy sketching, but I seem to do it in a short attention span theater sort of way. When I have deep focus I conquer it with gusto, other times I just stare at my sketch as I blog, surf the web, or write on my novel. Truly, I believe I have quite a few projects going at the moment, but I am going to persuade myself to work on several of these today! So without further ado, here is the beginning of the giraffe sketch that I am working on, but I decided to turn him into a necklace you can purchase over on Zazzle. He looks quite adorable really.
